About
Heidi Baxter is a registered health psychologist working publicly within a diabetes service and in a small part-time private practise in Auckland, New Zealand. She has a special interest in diabetes psychology and is a positive psychology practitioner with a passion for improving psychological wellbeing. She works with adults and young people over the age of 19. Her psychology career spans over a decade working in several diabetes services across Auckland, in the community and briefly in primary care and the corporate world. Her approach is evidence-based and drawn from a range of therapy models. She has a particular passion for positive psychology which has developed since completing her MSc. Her project looked at the impact of positive psychology interventions on people living with chronic back pain. She utilises her character strength of zest, defined as “approaching life with excitement and energy, not doing things halfway or half-heartedly, living life as an adventure, feeling alive and activated”, to find ways to help people flourish and be the best versions of themselves.
